C Vehicle PFI - Operational Analysis and Modelling

Amey Lex Consortium (ALC) required operational analysis/modelling domain expertise and support for its bids for defence contracts and business development.

The most immediate requirement was the supply model for the bid for the MoD C Vehicle Capability Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract. ALC was selected as preferred bidders for the 15 year contract for the provision of earthmoving and construction plant, rough terrain forklifts and cranes to the armed forces.

Work was required to develop the existing ALC Supply Model and to build seamless interfaces with the new MoD-provided Demand Model and the ALC revised Cost Model. The work involved the use of OA scientific methods, mathematical modelling and dynamic simulation techniques using data provided by MoD and ALC.

The ALC SUPPLY Model had to be developed to provide the revised costs of supporting all assets within the ALC fleet relating to:

Work continued throughout the Preferred Bidder Stage further developing, iterating and running models in order to optimise fleet size and mix given different demands, providing confidence in adopted strategies. Work concluded on this phase with the development of an operational database to track assets.
