Integrated Processes and Procedures
Following on from the initial project to introduce a new format for the Dstl Management System, this project converted and improved the large amount of remaining legacy material to develop a fully integrated end-to-end process-based Management System (MS) in Dstl.
This project delivered a new Management System (MS) in MOSS 2007 for the Defence Science Technology Laboratory (Dstl) that is based around the activities that users need to undertake. This new process-based system is designed explicitly to reveal the steps involved in each Dstl process. The project has also reinforced and re-invigorated the concept of process ownership.
The BPI project has developed a logical and coherent structure for the MS. Working with process owners and stakeholders, it has created an effective and efficient process-based environment, and an MS performance-measurement system. The BPI project was structured in stages and culminated in the completion of an integration review and transition to business as usual thereafter.
The major work packages involved:
- Development of an MS conceptual model to integrate the previously stove-piped procedures into a coherent set of top-level end to end processes;
- Reinforcement and embedding of a Process Owner model by engagement and process development;
- Conversion and improvement of the full range of often safety and business critical processes by engagement with Process Owners and stakeholders across the business;
- Design, development and implementation of a range measures for the MS;
- Development and refinement of a top level range of corporate and operational policies, roles and profiles;
- Transition of the MS into Sharepoint 2007 and Business as Usual.
