Support to the AESG
RED provided manpower substitution for the Analysis, Experimentation and Simulation Group (AESG) at dstl. Assistance was provided on a variety of projects following the transfer of a key resource in the interim until a new employee was hired.
In order to advance several ongoing projects, it was necessary for AESG to utilise an outside contractor. RED proposed several potential resources, one of whom was selected by AESG.
Following a hand-over, RED's analyst programmer resources worked on several projects. These included an analysis of air-power and a historical analysis of trials data.
The work also involved the conversion and modification of a new game theory based model. This model was originally spreadsheet-based.
Conversion from a spreadsheet & VB-macro based approach had been started by the replaced resource and it was this work that RED's analyst programmer continued. Much of the work involved advancing the code from fixed methods and the use of hard-coded parameters to more open-ended techniques.
In particular, the ability to create custom moves and counter-moves and to modify the victory conditions were successfully introduced.
